Study for FREE with a NSFAS bursary

BIG Announcement!

Starting January 2018 all first-time UNISA students can apply for an NSFAS bursary. What this means is if you are a first-time UNISA student and your NSFAS application gets approved your 2018 student fees will get paid directly to UNISA. If you are an NSFAS grantee your loan will get converted to a bursary that does not have to get repaid to NSFAS.

NSFAS bursary

This means you are studying for free. In the past this bursary was a loan that needed to be repaid.  Under the new rules you will not have this debit hanging over you.

To qualify your annual household income needs to be below R350 000. You need to have registered at UNISA for the first time for an Undergraduate Degree in 2018. This is for South African students only who has never applied for any formal qualification at any other higher educational institution.

NSFAS has extended their application for bursaries to all first-time students. The application dates are 3 to 26 January 2018 to form part of the UNISA registration process. You will be provided with the option to apply for the NSFAS bursary during registration.

UNISA will inform you of the outcome mid-February for all semester 1 modules and mid-April for year modules.
