Matric Night School

Matric night school is a way for adults to be able to obtain their Matric while working a full-time job. This allows adults the chance to get their Matric while still working to earn an income. This can then improve their working prospects.

Unfortunately, Matric College, Bellview Institute of Distance Learning and Skills Academy colleges do not offer any classes, as all the learning is online. However, studying Matric online through distance learning means that you can study from the safety and comfort of your own home, and your study hours are flexible.

Advantages Of Night School Matric

There are many advantages to taking night classes to complete your Matric, such as:

  • Night classes will not clash with regular work hours, so they will not interfere with your job
  • Night classes are usually smaller than day classes, so your teacher can have more time to focus on helping each student
  • Night classes are structured and organised, much like day classes, so that you can ask questions when they come up
  • Having more time to prepare before class
  • There are usually people from many different backgrounds, so you can also enrich your cultural experience and knowledge while studying for your Matric

Disadvantages Of Night School Matric

As with all situations, there are also some disadvantages:

  • You will finish late, and you will have to plan ahead to make time for things like dinner and assignments
  • Not many venues are safe at night, so it can feel stressful and cause you to lose focus in classes
  • The later in the day you begin your studying, the more tired you are, which means you retain less information

A Solution

One thing you can consider instead, is doing Matric online. This way you study through distance learning. This allows you to keep your study hours flexible, so you study when it is most convenient for you. You can also study from the comfort and safety of your own home.

Can I Complete My Matric Online?

Yes, you can. Many reputable distance learning colleges offer Matric programmes for anyone who wants to get or improve their Matric. The online Matric options available are:

  • Matric Rewrite
  • Matric Upgrade
  • Adult Matric

Matric Rewrite

This option is available to those under the age of 21. Whether you failed and want to change to a pass, or you passed but would like to improve your results, you can do a Matric Rewrite.

Note that you may only rewrite two subjects. These must be subjects you wrote for your Matric final exams, you cannot change subjects for the rewrite.

Because of this, if you failed Matric, you will only be allowed to rewrite if improving the marks of only two subjects will improve your overall result to a pass.

There is no limit to the number of times you can rewrite Matric, as long as you are still under the age of 21. To apply for a Matric Rewrite, you will need:

  • A copy of your Statement of Results
  • A certified copy of your ID

Matric Upgrade

This option is for those over the age of 21 who would like to pass or improve their Matric. You may upgrade as many subjects as you like. You may also choose to change any or all of your elective subjects if you prefer.

You may apply for a Matric Upgrade as early as 19. However, you must be over the age of 21 to write the exams because you will write the Adult Matric exams.

This option is for those over the age of 21 who were unable to complete their high school education. Once you have successfully completed this course, you will receive your Senior Certificate. This works exactly the same way as a National Senior Certificate/Matric Certificate.

To apply for Adult Matric, you will need:

  • A copy of your Grade 9 report or equivalent
  • A certified copy of your ID
