It is possible to study for a Business Management qualification without a Matric. There are many ways you can do this, including through the ICB.
The ICB Business Management Programme consists of three levels, and these are:
- ICB National Certificate in Small Business Financial Management
- ICB Higher Certificate in Office Administration
- ICB National Diploma in Financial Accounting
ICB Business Management Programme
ICB National Certificate In Small Business Financial Management
This is an NQF level 4 qualification, which means it is a Matric Equivalent Certificate. Because it is a Matric Equivalent qualification, you do not need Matric to apply. To apply for this course you only need your Grade 11 Certificate/report. This course takes 9 months to complete.
ICB Higher Certificate In Office Administration
This is an NQF level 5 qualification, and the entry requirement for it is that you have completed the ICB National Certificate in Small Business Financial Management. This is a 15-month course.
ICB National Diploma In Financial Accounting
A Diploma is an NQF level 6 qualification, which is just one level below a Degree. The ICB National Diploma in Financial Accounting is a 12-month course. The entry requirement is that you have completed the ICB Higher Certificate In Office Administration.

What Are My Options If I Want To Get My Matric?

- Matric Rewrite (you will receive a National Senior Certificate as you would at the end of Matric)
- Matric Upgrade (you will receive an Amended Senior Certificate which works the same as a Matric Certificate/National Senior Certificate)
- Adult Matric (you will receive a Senior Certificate, which works the same way as a National Senior Certificate)
Matric Rewrite
Matric Rewrite is available to anyone under the age of 21 who would like to improve their Matric marks. When applying to do a Matric Rewrite, remember the following:
- You must be under the age of 21
- You may only rewrite two subjects
- These must be subjects you wrote for your Matric final exams, you may not change subjects
To apply for a Matric Rewrite, you will need:
- A copy of your Statement of Results
- A certified copy of your ID
Matric Upgrade
Matric Upgrade is available to those over the age of 21 who would like to improve their Matric marks. When applying to do a Matric Upgrade, remember that:
- You can apply as early as 19, but you must be 21 to write the exams
- You must be over the age of 21 because you will be writing the Adult Matric exams
- You may change any or all of the subjects you would like to
To apply for a Matric Upgrade, you will need:
- A copy of your Statement of Results
- A certified copy of your ID
Adult Matric
This is available to anyone over the age of 21 who did not get the opportunity to complete their Matric. To apply for the Adult Matric, you will need:
- A copy of your Grade 9 Certificate/report or equivalent
- A certified copy of your ID
