What Are ICB Courses?

These are courses accredited by the ICB (Institute of Certified Bookkeepers). Most ICB courses focus on business or finance. Here is a list of ICB courses offered at Matric College:

What Are The Entry Requirements For Each Course

Financial Accounting- You can study this course if you have a grade 10 and know how to read and write English. 

Business Management – You can study this course if you have a grade 11, know how to read and write English and be at least 16 years old. 

Office Administration– To study this course, you need grade 12 or have an equivalent qualification.

Are ICB Qualifications Recognised? 

Yes, ICB qualifications are recognised worldwide. They are registered on the NQF (National Qualifications Framework). 

Does UNISA Recognise ICB Qualifications? 

No, UNISA does not recognise ICB qualifications. However, you can apply for Recognition of Prior Learning. This is where they check if the qualification you have allows you to enter into their institution or course applied for. This does not guarantee your acceptance.

How Can I Join ICB? 

You can join ICB if you have a grade 10 certificate, have reached the age of 16, and if you are interested in studying business or finance.

You can apply at a college, distance learning institution or you can study independently.

How Can I Join ICBA? 

You can join the ICBA if you have an NQF level 3 qualification or higher from the ICB or other training providers accredited by the ICB. If you have work experience in financial, bookkeeping, business, accounting or office management courses, you may qualify to join the ICBA.

You can also join the ICBA if you are a student studying towards the above courses. You have to bring proof of registration. As a student, you will not get all the benefits, but you will have access to most of the ICBA benefits. 

How Do You Pass ICB? 

You must score at least 60% for the overall score to pass ICB. The ICB exam has an overall mark of 70%. Your exam mark is combined with your PoE to determine your pass mark. PoEs have an overall mark of 30%. 

Where Can I Go After ICB?

If you have an ICB qualification, there are options you can consider. Here is a list of things you can do after ICB:

  • Start your own business 

What Is The Difference Between AAT And ICB? 

AAT offers courses that can be studied by anyone of any age. No experience is needed and it does not matter what your previous qualifications are. You can apply for AAT courses at distance learning colleges. 

If you have a grade 10 and you are 16 and over, you can study with ICB. The course provides students with critical skills. You can do ICB courses through distance learning and TVET colleges, and independently.

What Can I Study Without Matric? 

You can study our Adult Matric, Matric Upgrade or Matric Equivalent programmes. When you have received your matric certificate, you can apply for our ICB courses
