The Institute of Certified Bookkeepers (ICB) is a professional organisation that focuses on providing professional training in business-focused fields. These qualifications are internationally recognised and fully accredited. The ICB offers qualifications in five different programmes:
- Business Management
- Office Administration
- Financial Accounting
- Public Sector Accounting
- Entrepreneurship
All five of these study programmes is made up of several different courses. This article will be looking specifically at the ICB Office Administration programme.
The ICB Office Administration Programme
This programme will teach you everything you need to know about running an office on a day to day basis. You will learn how to handle things like managing administration staff, filing, record keeping and more. Office Administrators are also in charge of keeping track of and ordering office supplies as needed. This is all on top of their other secretarial duties.
The programme itself is divided into three different courses. These are:
- National Certificate: Office Administration (Certified Junior Office Administrator)
- Higher Certificate: Office Administration (Certified Senior Office Administrator)
- Diploma: Office Administration (Certified Office Manager)
The first of these courses is 18 months long while the last two are each only nine months long. One of the best thing about the ICB courses is that each course will give you a recognised qualification. That means you don’t need to study all three courses before you get a qualification.
ICB qualifications are also recognised both nationally and internationally. This means you can use your qualifications to look for a job all over South Africa and overseas too. So as you can see the ICB courses are very useful courses to study.
How to Register for an ICB Office Administration Course
What not many people realise is that there is more than one way to register for and ICB course. When you hear the words “register for a course” you might be thinking of standing in long queues. Fortunately, the ICB has made things much easier.
Registering Through a Training Provider
The most common way to do this is to call a training provider that offers ICB courses. There are many different colleges and providers that offer these courses. If you call the provider you chose, they will help you with everything you need. The advantage of doing it this way, of course, is that you have someone who can help you and answer any questions you might have. There is, however, another way to complete your ICB Registration.
Registering Using the ICB Learner Portal
The ICB Learner Portal has been designed to be a central point for ICB students to manage their studies. This is because there is so much that you can do using the portal. The portal allows you to schedule your exams, make payments, and register for courses.
What makes this portal so unique is that you can even use it to do your ICB registration itself. On the home page, click on the register button, fill in all the information you are asked for and that’s it. You are now an ICB student.
Once you have done that, registering for your Office Administration course is even easier. All you need to do is go to the “Register for course” page on the portal. Click the “register” button under Office Administration, choose a training provider and you’re done. It’s that easy!
