What Are The Minimum Requirements For A Bachelor Pass?

If you meet the entrance requirements for your chosen field of study, with a bachelor’s pass you can do so at any tertiary institution of your choice.

To acquire a bachelor’s pass, a student must pass at least 6 subjects out of the 7 and get at least 40% for Home Language, and as little as 50% in four other high credit subjects (Mathematics\Maths Lit, Physical and Life sciences, etc) Life Orientation excluded.

What are the 3 other levels of passing Grade 12?

We have the Diploma Pass, the Higher Certificate Pass, and the National Senior Certificate Pass

 

Diploma Pass

 

To achieve a minimum diploma pass, you should pass with:

40% in Home language

50% in four subjects.

30% in 2 other subjects.

 

Higher Certificate Pass

 

To achieve a minimum Higher Certificate pass, you should pass with:

40% in your home language.

40% in two subjects.

30% in 3 other subjects.

 

National Senior Certificate Pass

 

To achieve a minimum Higher Certificate pass, you should pass with:

40% in your home language.

40% in 2 other subjects.

20% in other subjects.

All your work throughout the year before the final exams counts for 25% of your final mark. The end-of-year final exam counts for 75%, aside from Life Orientation, which in itself is an internal exam and counts for 100%

 

Can you fail maths and pass matric?

It is possible to fail mathematics and still pass the year as long as you passed your languages with marks results above 40% and achieved a pass in every other subject

 

Does NSFAS fund matric rewrite or upgrade?

No, NSFAS will not fund a matric rewrite. NSFAS only funds those studying at a public Varsity or College
