How Do I Prepare For Grade 12 Exams?
Proven Ideas To Help You Pass Matric Effectively
- Study a Little Bit Every Day
- Join Study Groups
- Take Notes
- Take The Relevant Extra Classes
- Create A Working Study Schedule
Study a Little Bit Every day
One big mistake students make is cramming all their studying in the night before the exams. Study a little bit every day. When the day of your exam finally comes, all you would need to do is revise.
Join Study Groups
Join a group of your peers that are striving towards the same objectives that you are. Study groups make a way for you to share information with each other, and also offer help and support. You could even join online study groups.
Take Notes
When studying, your notes are a great resource. Whether it’s your own notes or notes you copied off the board in class, don’t let it go to waste. Make the most of your notes, you could even turn them into flashcards.
Take The Relevant Extra Classes
If you find difficulty with a certain subject, ask your teacher to set up extra classes to get you the help you need. It is highly likely that your initiative will help other students who are struggling in a similar way to you.
Create a Working Study Schedule
Stay updated by using a study schedule. Write down your exam dates, and when you plan on studying each subject. Make room for enough days that are dedicated to each subject, and don’t forget to give yourself rest days too.
Why Would You Need Past Papers?
There are a few benefits when using matric past exam papers when studying. You will become more familiar with how your questions will be set, so when you take your seat in the exam hall you can expect your confidence to be to through the roof! Other benefits include:
- Revisiting the work that you have already studied
- Becoming more familiar with tricky learning content
- Helping with time management when answering some of your questions
- Developing an understanding of the Grade 12 exam questions, and how to answer them
What 2 Study Methods Can Be The Most Effective?
- Spaced practice – learning which takes place over more than one session, at different points in time (eg. looking back through your textbook once every three days). This method makes reference to the time you should be preparing for the Matric final exams (multiple study sessions across a few weeks)
- Practice testing – instead of just restudying information, try to remember the information (perhaps by taking a practice test). This method refers to what you should be doing in preparation for the Grade 12 final exams
How Can You Pass Grade 12 With Distinctions?
To obtain a distinction in a subject or subjects, you will need to pass with at least 80% for that subject. The percentages for your subjects will be listed on your matric results. Also, there is no limit to the amount of distinctions you can get.
Through the years, there have been students who have gotten distinctions in all of their Grade 12 subjects, there is no reason why that shouldn’t be you.
How Can You Get Free Study Guides?
A good way to understand your learning content in your textbook is through study guides. It creates a breakdown of the modules for you, and tells you which content to focus on. You’ll also have a variety of activities to complete. You can use this resource to prepare for your exams and complete assignments.
