Different opinions on the preparation of the examinations have been submitted by various schools.
The effort was made to accommodate all of the requests that are reasonable and that are within boundaries.
What Is The Preparatory Examination?
This is an examination to prepare grade 12 students to write the final examination. Students will get an idea of what is expected of them in the final examination.
This type of examination is done by an assessment body.
Important Dates To Remember
These are the important dates to take note of.
The Starting Date
The starting date is on the 3rd of August 2021
Closing Date
On the 23rd of September 2021 the last preparatory examination will be held.
What Will Be Required From Schools? (Question Papers)
Schools are required to meet certain expectations. This is what they need to adhere to:
- All questions should be in line with the Annual Teaching Plans (ATP) as well as the 2021 examination guidelines
- Schools are expected to create their own question papers for the subjects that do not appear on the timetable that has been provided below.

The important information for this subject is as follows:
When Will It Be Written?
This subject will be written on Monday, 6 September 2021.
When Is The Rewrite?
The rewrite will be on Wednesday, 13 October 2021.
Computer Application Technology (CAT) & Information Technology (IT)
Here is the important information students need to take note of for these subjects:
Computer Application Technology (CAT) Paper 1
This subject will be written on Thursday, 26 August 2021.
Information Technology (IT) Practical
On Friday, the 27th of September 2021 the practical will be done.
Geography Paper 1 & Paper 2
Both of these papers will be written on separate days. They will both also be 3-hours. Here is all you need to know:
Geography Paper 1
Paper 1 will consist of (Geomorphology and Mapwork, Climate and Weather)
Geography Paper 2
Paper 2 will consist of (Economic Geography of SA and Mapwork, Rural and Urban Settlement)
All Home Languages Paper 3
All Home Languages are now 3-hour long papers compared to the 2 ½ hour long papers in the past.
Technical Sciences Paper 2
Paper 2 was previously 3-hours, but will be changed to 1 ½ hours long now.
Observing Your Timetable
When you look at the timetable provided you will see that certain subjects are highlighted in blue. These are the subjects that will be written on the dates the Department Of Basic Education (DBE) will provide.
